A joint initiative of ESM leader Joost-it from the Hague and Tech Hub AspisID from Athens. It’s an intensive training program where you’ll learn everything you need to become an ESM consultant. The ESM Campus trainings will take place in two places: Amsterdam and Athens. After the trainings you will serve customers in exciting projects.

The  Role

Enterprise Service Management is a practice where service departments or organizations provide services to their customers (or end users) via a one portal strategy. From a customer perspective, there is no distinction in services from IT, HR, Legal, Facility Management, etc. The Enterprise Service Management (ESM) tool supports the one portal strategy and all the cross domain processes behind it.

As an ESM Tooling Consultant you help customers implement their ESM tool or maintain such a tool. That means you have extensive knowledge of the ESM tool and are able to provide advice on how to best use this according to optimal practices.

The ESM Tooling Consultant is a proactive, analytical person, and does not stop when he/she encounters setbacks. He/She likes a challenge and can translate functional requirements into the best possible solutions within the ESM tool. The Consultant is constantly looking for the best ways to configure the tool and is not afraid to challenge the requirements of the customers or Senior Consultants.


What a typical working week looks like

Monday: There are a few requests in the queue which need to be resolved by the end of the day. One of them is an issue with a complex workflow which supports the onboarding process within the customer organization. While working on the solution, you discover you missed some crucial information. You do not hesitate to contact the customer to get the information needed and solve the issue.


Tuesday: The day starts with a refinement session where new requests are discussed and an estimate is given. Together with colleagues you discuss the best possible solutions. In the afternoon you work on knowledge management and automation of tasks which are normally done manually.


Wednesday: You work on an implementation project for a large customer in the retail sector. Your tasks are to set up the production environment and move all configurations from QA to production. Together with the project team you work hard to complete this by the end of the day.


Thursday: For the same project you worked on Wednesday, you also need to configure the Self Service Portal. You use HTML and CSS code of previous portals, but you change the layout using other colours, logos and perform specific changes asked by the customer. In the afternoon you have a testing session with customer representatives to see if the configuration meets the requirements.


Friday: The planning was to work on the go-live for the project but in the morning a top incident was registered. There is a serious issue with an integration between 4me and another system. You use your 4me knowledge together with an Integration Specialist of Joost-IT to debug the issue and solve it. A few hours later you find the solution and implement this after getting customer approval. Yes! Solved before the weekend! Company drinks to celebrate and end the working week!

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or relevant field
